Mayor Kris Hanna In Robes

Unfortunately last November, the Club Marion was ceasing the community markets held for many years at the Sturt Road sports precinct - but they have plenty of sport on Sundays now, that's fair enough. The markets were such a wonderful community event, where people could meet and chat as well as get cheap fruit and veg, and explore the 'treasures' on sale out of countless car boots. When I heard the news I vowed that the markets must return!

On Sunday, 5 May, I was pleased to officially open the revived markets, now at Morphettville Racecourse, the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month, 7am-1pm. In addition to the fruit and veg, and bric-a-brac, there are more craft stalls and food trucks. It has proved such an instant success, the organisers will need to work on the parking arrangements, but all things considered the markets are once again a wonderful fortnightly event for our community.
