A pilot program giving young people access to technology to create the media that matters to them is among the eight projects to receive funding under the City of Marion’s Youth Development Grants Program for 2022-2023.

The recipients were endorsed by Elected Members at their General Meeting this week.

The City of Marion offers Youth Development Grants every year, with a funding pool of $120,000 to support not-for-profit organisations in delivering projects that strengthen connections for young people in the Marion community.

Organisations can apply for grants up to $10,000.

This financial year eight eligible organisations received funding to the total value of $67,985. A second round of the program will be launched in early 2023 to distribute the remaining $50,000 in the fund.

The successful recipients are:

  • MarionLIFE Community Services – MarionLIFE Youth Media Hub
  • Whitelion Youth – Balanced Choice Program
  • Sonder for Headspace – Headspace Marion Social Connectedness Project
  • Gener8 Theatre – (un) REAL
  • Junction Australia – Junction & Free Mind Youth Program Partnership
  • Multiple Solutions – Accelerate Youth: Drivers Program
  • Islamic Museum of Australia – Cultured Cooking
