Your One Card allows you to borrow up to 100 items from any of the public libraries across South Australia.

This includes fiction and non-fiction books for all ages, DVDs, CDs, Blu-Rays, eBooks and eAudiobooks, audiobooks, magazines, graphic novels and community language items.

Toys may also be borrowed for a small annual fee.

Loan periods

Please note that borrowing restrictions may apply for some items. New releases and popular items with holds may have a reduced load period of 2 weeks for book items and 1 week for audio-visual items. Remember to check your due date slip for shorter loan periods.

Items available for a 4 week loan:

  • Books – fiction & non-fiction
  • Audiobooks

Items available for a 3 week loan:

  • eBooks
  • eAudiobooks

Items available for a 2 week loan:

  • Magazines
  • DVDs (20 items per card)
  • Blu-Rays (20 items per card)
  • CDs (20 items per card)

Items may be returned to any public library in South Australia regardless of where they were borrowed*. City of Marion Libraries have 24 hour return chutes located outside each of our 3 branches for your convenience.

* Toys must be returned during library opening hours to the branch from which they were borrowed.


Renewals or loan extensions may occur, if the item is not requested by another borrower, by:

  • Accessing your account through the catalogue (link below).
  • Calling the library (phone number below).
  • Visiting a library branch in person.
  • Via self-check machines.

Holds may be requested by phone or in person at any Marion Library branch, or by accessing the catalogue (link below).

When holds are available for collection the library will notify you by email, SMS or letter.

You may place a maximum of 30 holds on your card at one time.

Please note that if items borrowed by you are lost or damaged then the replacement cost will be charged. Payments on lost items are non-refundable.

Toy libraries

Learn, explore, create and imagine through play with the help of the Toy Library Service.


The Marion Library Service has toy libraries located at two of its branches; Cove Civic Centre and Park Holme Libraries. An annual membership fee applies.

The Toy Libraries provide a great range of toys, puzzles, games, sporting equipment and other resources for children, parents, grandparents, caregivers and groups such as playgroups and family day care providers.

Primarily the toys available are for children up to 12 years of age.

All toys can be borrowed for a 2 week period. Toy loans can be extended up to 2 times.

To join the Toy Library you need to:

  • Show personal identification with your current address.
  • Bring in a parent or guardian if you are under 18 years of age.
  • Agree to comply with library policies and regulations.

Organisations will need to provide a covering letter from the Manager that acknowledges that the organisation accepts responsibility for any loss/ damages to toy items.

Borrowing information

Toy Library borrowers are encouraged to:

  • Count and check toys when borrowing to make sure all pieces match the description on the tag – please report any discrepancies to staff immediately.
  • Return toys in good, clean order, complete and in the correct packaging.
  • Report any damage to the toy library equipment to staff in order to maintain the best possible safety standards of the items.
  • Not attempt any repairs on toy library items.
  • Accompany their children at all times whilst in the toy library.

Toys must be returned during library opening hours to the branch from which they were borrowed.
